Once you see the Allgäu cows grazing on lovely meadows, and only small patches of snow remain here and there on the peaks, then you’ll know: Summer has returned to Allgäu, and the region's picturesque landscapes and seemingly endless potential for hiking and other outdoor activities comes to life.

A hike across lush pastures, a cycling tour alongside the Iller River, or a relaxed round of golf - there is no end to the variety of activities summer has to offer guests of the Allgäu region.A visit to the Nature Park Nagelfluhkette is an opportunity not to be missed. The park boasts without a doubt one of the most impressive landscapes along the northern fringes of the Alps. It comprises seven Bavarian communities in the Upper Allgäu region (including the Hörnerdörfer villages of Balderschwang, Bolsterlang, Fischen and Obermaiselstein), and eight in the Lower Bregenz Forest region. Encompassing an area of 405 square kilometres (155 square miles), it is the first nature park that ignores the borders between Germany and Austria.

The unique beauty of the Allgäu’s Hörnerdörfer villages is awaiting your discovery. We look forward to your visit!
