In the footsteps and even on the shoes of the Inuit - that is how you should experience the beauty of the Hörnerdörfer region - particularly if you are looking for peace and quiet, want to relax, but still want to be active at your own pace.
Large areas of our Hörner Mountain region are only accessible on touring skis or snowshoes during the winter. Explore an untouched winter wonderland in the company of one of our expert snowshoe hiking guides. Guided snowshoe hikes are offered at each of our five communities all through the winter.
Learn about how avalanches are formed, and about the important role Alpine farming plays in mountain safety during the summer. Discover the unique beauty of our region and try your luck at counting the peaks! Numerous hire points offer all the equipment you will need.
The newly created Snowshoe Park Oberallgäu near Schweineberg in Ofterschwang offers various snowshoe hiking tours for all fitness levels. You will also have an opportunity to learn about the techniques and skills of the Inuit at an Igloo Camp & Husky Workshop, where you will also build your very own igloo. Dog sledding with a team of Huskies is part of the programme, as is the extraordinary night you will spend in your self-built igloo - unforgettable experiences that will round off this very special winter highlight.
