The Nature Park boasts impressive differences in altitude of almost 1,400 metres (4,600 feet) on a relatively small area, giving it its unique flair and breathtaking beauty.

Nature parks are highly rated protected areas, which means that Nagelfluhkette has some fascinating experiences in store for you: Diverse, untamed nature, magical panoramic views and a unique interplay of geology, agriculture, fauna and flora. The Nature Park Tour Book can be purchased at your local tourist information point, and includes 24 selected tour tips, a flora and fauna observation calendar, and a variety of interesting facts about the nature park.

Explore the nature park’s unrivalled landscape and its impressive biodiversity. Only here you will find ecologically valuable habitats for countless animals and plants, many of which are rare or endangered species, including the golden eagle, black and wood grouse, and numerous gentian and orchid types in such a comparatively small area.

In winter, the Nature Park Nagelfluhkette beckons with its smooth, snow-covered slopes, ideal for a variety of outdoor activities. However, during that season in particular, many protected species (including grouse and red deer) are very sensitive about people intruding on their habitat. In keeping with the motto ‘Respect Your Boundaries’, the Nature Park Nagelfluhkette is committed to sustainable co-existence. Most conflicts in the area arise from the fact that visitors, like snowshoe hikers and cross-country skiers are unaware of intruding on the privacy of sensitive species. The Nature Park Nagelfluhkette endeavours to educate people about these very special plants, animals, and habitats worthy of our protection, thus providing visitors with the necessary information that will enable them to act responsibly.

Last but not least: Our nature park guides have been specially trained for you, and can tell you everything about the special characteristics of this international preserve, and about the work that is being done here to ensure that its unique character will remain intact.
